Chemical Peel to Improve Your Skin Appearance.

Chemical Peels Improve Skin’s Appearance

In cosmetic industry, chemical peels are used to improve a person’s appearance when he or she has different kinds of skin abnormalities such as wrinkles, fine line, skin blemishes, etc.

Depending on the conditions to treat, you can undergo a chemical peel treatment of light, medium or, in some cases, deep peeling agent.

Chemical peels exfoliate the target skin layers that remove, or fade, many skin flaws.  You may need multiple peeling sessions to get the desired results.  This goes true with lighter peels that are gentle and works more superficially.

While intending to undergo a chemical peel treatment, the skin type also has to be brought into consideration to select the appropriate peeling agent and its concentration.  Once the right peeling agent is chosen and when the procedure is done properly, the skin’s appearance improve considerably, which becomes healthier, younger and with less noticeable skin flaws (or without any skin irregularity at all).

How Chemical Peels Improves Skin’s Appearance

When a peeling treatment completes, many skin flaws can be corrected very satisfactorily.  Let’s find out which type of chemical peel suits which types of skin abnormalities.

Light or Superficial Peeling: Its action is limited up to the outermost skin layer.  It is the safest and mildest type of peel that is found good for fine lines, hyper-pigmentation or skin discoloration, dull and lifeless skin, mild acne scars, and for seborrheic keratois and actinic.

Medium Depth Peel: This peel has the ability to act on the epidermis and the upper part of the dermis.  It works deeper than the light peel and found good to treat age spots, mild to moderate wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, acne scars, actinic keratois, etc.

Deep Chemical Peel: This peel reaches the lower layers of the dermis and produces the most dramatic effect.  It is the harshest of all chemical peels, which is used to treat severe skin flaws such as scars, deep lines, deep wrinkles, severe sun damages, etc.

How a Peel Works?

In any chemical peeling treatment, certain gentle acids are applied to the skin.  This creates a controlled injury onto the treated area, which peels or removes the dead or damaged skin layers.  When the damaged skin layers are removed, new and healthier skin layers take the place of the removed ones.  The improved production of dermal connective tissues or collagen helps the skin rejuvenate and become younger looking, will less visible skin flaws.

Common Peeling Agents or Peels

To do the work properly or to achieve the desired goal, the right peeling agent has to be selected and the treatment has to be done with its right concentration.

Common peeling agents are the alpha hydroxyl acids, salicylic acid, TCA or trichloroacetic acid, Jessner solution, phenol and resorcinol.  These acids or peels are used in varying concentrations or strengths and what concentration has to be used solely depends on the conditions to treat and on the experience of the user.  The harsher the peel, the deeper will be its effects.

Each of the peeling acid or peeling agents has its own special characteristics, and the associated side effects and risks vary from peel to peel, and concentration to concentration.  Which peel to be used and what concentration suits the treating conditions, can be properly recommended by a skin care professional.

Chemical peels certainly improve skin’s appearance and make you look younger than your age.
