After the Surgery
Healing time varies from case to case, so are the results of the surgery. For a couple of days after the surgery, you have to sleep with head elevated and restrict your physical activities. Bruising around the treated area is common, which remains for about five days after the surgery. It may take a week or so for the discoloration to get normal.
The stitches are removed in five to seven days after the nose job. You will be advised to wear nasal splint for a week or so. As said earlier, you have to avoid any physical activity that exerts pressure on the treated area; you have to avoid sneezing, bending, straining or lifting heavy objects for a few days after the surgery. Many patients can return to work in a week or so, and can resume normal activities in three to four weeks.
It is also advised to protect the treated area from direct sunlight. This has to continue for several months after the surgery.
Possible Risks of Rhinoplasty
If the procedure is done by a well-qualified surgeon, most of the risks or complications will be minimal. However, keep in mind the potential risks that include swelling, bruising, infection, bleeding, implant exposure, anesthetic reaction, etc.
It is also possible that you may not get the desired results in the first attempt, and that you would have to go for a second corrective surgical procedure. You should also remember that not every case will achieve the same results from a nose job, therefore, don’t compare your results with any other nose surgery patient.
