How is Liposuction performed?

In most of the cases, liposuction is an outpatient procedure. But if the area treated is large, i.e. it involves removal of excessive fat, and then patient may need to stay in hospital for a day or two.General anesthetic is given before starting the treatment. The concentration of anesthesia varies depending on the amount of fat removed.

After anesthesia is applied, liposuction procedure is started with cannula. Cannula is a small stain less tube, which is used for suction of fat. Through small puncture wounds the cannula is inserted into the fatty areas of body between skin and muscle. The fat will be removed by suction through cannula tube. The time of procedure vary depending upon the amount of fat required to get removed.
